Sweaters! and crystals! and candles! OH BOY!

Oh Happy Day, all alone and able to think in the quiet of the lazy, hazy afternoon.  My latest creation, from fiber purchased by Two if by Hand to spun yarn to pull over sweater.

I really love the way the colors stripe across the front.  Then I spun a different technique to get the sleeves to strand longer.  FUN!  We are looking forward to the Tour De Fleece on Ravelry so that we will have more sweaters worth of yarn to knit and DD and I really love the Tour.

I call this one Happy Birthday as I see an explosion of snowmen making colorful snow cones all over and think of Frosty the Snowman coming to life, or would that be the end of his life?
I finished two other sweaters but until they reach their destination I can't share them with you as they are gifts.

Last dye day the Pixies dyed this up for me.  There are 6 skeins of variegated sock and a medium and dark violet.  Also an undyed goes with this.
I have already drafted the pattern but first I have a few more items I need to b/o.  2 samples, a pair of sock and a top which all are patterned.

This is fingering 100% silk which is for a different top, another eventual when I finish my work knitting.
A very dear friend of mine who understands me real well sent me below.  :-)  LOVE having another plant which is difficult to kill with my brown thumb.

She knows I have a small sill here and so sent a tall thin pot, soil and cutting from her garden.  It's now in the sill and growing well.  Thanks Mel!

Here are the plants at night with DD's offering in the front... they are all gone now but will be long loved and remembered.
Brought my roses back to life,,,, course they are dead again BUT I did do it once so perhaps I can do it again?  They have a fungus problem which is hard to compete against.
I even had leaves on the Addams Family one... for a time, it too lost them.

Very into tactile senses of late.  These candles glow into the night.

A very strange thing happened.  See the black container candle?  Well it used to be just like the one on the right, clear and yellow.  It burned way down to the very bottom as you can barely see around the green textured glass in front of it.  There was a very thick and substantial wick in this one which made the entire thing liquid each night.

Well late one night I had to call the Pixie's in to witness it in action.  The air within the candle glass would swirl and then with a POP would ignite and come out of the glass.  I initially thought that the black was a resin of some sort as that would explain this phenomenon but no... it was just soot!

FREAKY WEIRD.

Another tactile experience.  These are crystals installed in the window via a piece of wood with fishing wire tied onto the wood.

At the end of each line is a large crystal.  Then there's one large disco ball hanging from the curtain rod as it's really weighty.

My Echo Flower Shawl which we are KALing at my
Yahoo Group Icelandic Lace Shawl.  This is through repeat #7 of #13 of the Flower Chart.

The yarn Fire done on our Pixie Paca Fat which is 870 yards of cashmere, baby alpaca and silk mixed it makes a slight halo and I just LOVE it in this shawl.

I accidentally added this to my cart one shopping day.  It was a very happy accident as it's something I would NEVER have bought for myself of late.

It's all silver, marcasite, and four different colors of pearls.  LOVE IT!  So I had to buy the matching ring.  But we will have to speak of jewelry another time as it would take an entire post alone.

I wish you could see these two bobble heads in motion, especially Barnabas when candle lit!
Got into 2 clubs for roving.  One by Woolie Bullie and another by Willow Mist Acres.  Fun spin time coming right up!
Hope you are having a great day and got through all these photos ok.  ;-)  Have a bad heart backed me up so I will have to make another post for you next week as there's more tactile experiences for me to share with you.
I ended up with this box of potpourri I couldn't pass on.  Most of the goodies inside ended up in our bathroom on a glass shelf which is perfect for it.  After the scent leaves I will keep the goodies.
This is Meditteraean Sea and below is Brazillian Orchid LOVELY stuff inside it.

Look at this stuff, not your normal potpourri! They are actually shells and nuts of brazil and flower and AND AND NUMMY!!!!

Still recovering from the heart episode but while recovering I have been designing all sorts of lovely things so it's still got a plus side.  Hope you are all well and happy.  Enjoy all things tactile today!

Really Special Yarn

We all have it, that really precious skein of yarn that someone bought for us or that we splurged on.  When I saw this Christmas present from Mel, I knew that I would have to make a special pattern just for this yarn.  I also knew that the Rainbow Aurora Borealis beads would have to be pared with the Aurora Borealis yarn as that's what this yarn is called by Unique Sheep.  It's a melty gradient which will have to be handled in my gradient hand paint method I taught in the class we had.  The class is attached to the pattern for the Yarn Fairy Beaded Bracelet.
This is one of those yarns that I would never have splurged on so I was very happy to get it but KNEW I'd have to write a pattern for it.  It's 70/30 merino/silk called Ling and as you can see there are 5 skeins (1560 yards) and it flows gently from lime to almost navy.
Then Pixie #1 went shopping and got me a few items for my Swappee and this bag came home with her.

It's a massive tote which has been carting about my Swappee's project as there were a great number of yarns used to make gradient hand paint blendy.  I'm loving it but it's almost done so the tote will need to be filled today.  The other item that they more recently came home with was in a cardboard box that just hit me upside the head today.  I was staring at the side of this box of candles and it hit me HARD upside the head that this box and that yarn and the beads from Raven needed to come together. Come together they MUST.
Ok so I can't show you more as to do so might be cutting off my own foot. :-)  So lets just say that's there's much more to this but this feather design inspired me and I'm soooo ready to c/o this project.  Course I'm in the midst of the flood of KAL and book work but I have GOT to write this ASAP and get it OTN as it's gorgeous!!!!  I love this pattern it's all mosaic feathery and I have the beads so I must go write right now!  If you want to TK it, then you know how to PM me.  GORGEOUS!!!! just saying.  Most likely this will just come out as a self published pattern as there's NO way I will be able to sit on this one for as long as it takes to make a KAL or publish it in a book! ;-)  ya'll know me better then that.

Hoppin'

Were hopping now, ribbit! Not to be confused with rippit!  My sample of the Phase Changing shawl is complete so at the end of the KAL for the final clue you will receive the entire pattern YIPEE!  Yarn kits are now available for a limited time.  As always when the last person stateside receives their yarn the KAL will begin.
What Else Would Madame Defarge Knit hits on Friday so Miss Jane Bennet has her own page!  Thank you very much.  She will remain available as a yarn kit to purchase for as long as our much beloved Heather Ordover, organizer extraordinaire, allow.
During the "working" hours of my day I spend it on samples and writing patterns.  At the end of the day I work on my, must have items.  Such as presents and Yarn Fairy swappee items.  My beloved swappee this quarter is Suz T and she's getting spoiled already.  DD started her shopping for me and I started her big item on Saturday, it's a Yarn Fairy multi colored sock yarn creation and I already had to start the sleeves.  That means nothing until you know that I knit all my sweaters in the round from the bottom up!  I'm changing the yarn every other row to every second row in order to make it very melty and lovely.   I weave in my ends or Russian join the ends as I go so that when she's done she's done.  I got about 4 inches of the sleeves done last night in a lovely Neiblingesk lace pattern.  No photos yet.
Last week there was a meeting of the minds AKA Pixie #1 and we hammered out a bit more of Fae Festival.  This is the flower we will be making over summer/fall months.  We dyed up three different flowers and there will be kits of cakes in five different colors for you to make a melty - blendy for yourself!
What threw off the timing for the Fae Festival was the Pixie String we found LOVE IT!  This "cobweb" is just a touch finer then Pixie Paca, so if you worked with it you will have NO problem with this "cobweb".  Why the quotes?  It's a heavy weight cobweb  34/2 (has it's own page here until the KAL opens) and a perfect introduction to lace.  I'm not sure how many skeins will be needed but I have to share that my sample is all the way through to chart 3 already!  I have only worked on it for about 5-6 hours total so far so you can see it's a fast knit.  This is a circular shawl with sleeves to make a "one size" - should fit all - sweater.  I have plans for XXXL knitting if it's needed.  But we will hammer that out on the Yahoo Group when we get there.  This KAL will follow on the heels of the Phase Changing KAL which just opened for yarn kit purchasing.
What remarkable WEIRD things are happening.... SO FREAKED!  You all know I recently crawled out from under a rock which has now been long lost.... and fell over Dark Shadows the Gothic soap opera from the 1960's.  I purchased the coffin, LOVING it! I told you that some strange possession took place where in I designed a pattern for each character in one night. Each time I put the design book down I had to pick it back up again.  This went on until there were enough for an entire book!!!  I don't know if any will ever actually be published as I design a bunch of stuff that never does.  I have book after book for each year now.  Other sections include, Battlestar Gallactica and more recently The Hobbit.
The oddest thing happened though... you all know I have been designing a pattern I called Manderley off of the Hitchcock movie by DeMaurier Rebecca.  We painted two color ways, one Manderley by the Sea which is a Mediterranean looking lace yarn and another which was over dyed in black ala The Raven.  WELL!  I'm about 3/4th through the coffin and suddenly I have fallen into the story REBECCA!  They are doing it on the soap opera!  FREAK OUT!  I can't believe it!  What are the chances that on March 1ish I started to design this shawl and SHAZAM... they are doing it back in 1970 on this soap opera!  I mean, yeah, they did scoop a bunch of knock offs, Portrait of Dorian Grey, Jane Ere, Turn of the Screw, Lovecraft, etc.  They took from all supernatural genre, vampires, ghost, witches, werewolves all of them.  I just really didn't expect to be slapped into the midst of Rebecca and was shocked when I saw it!  FREAK OUT!  Ok, so that has to go into my long list of work knitting.  I have it designed out to the border which needs to have window panes!  I fell hard for the beads on this one, for the black I want this turquoise matte AB but I can't find it in a size 8/0 BUMMER!  I don't like how heavy 6/0 looks on lace weight.  I did find a mill who will make us up any size skein for us though so I can work till my hearts content without fear of running out of yarn!  So happy about that too.  I'm hoping to fit Manderley in here some place, it's further along in the design process then Fae,,, which I hate to push out again but I might have to.
Well Kiddies, I always know when I'm putting off working as I turn into Chatty Patty.  I'm off, hope you are having a lovely day.
